Overview
Black River Gorges National Park is the largest protected forest of Mauritius with 50 km of marked trails, waterfalls, and lookout points.
Le Morne Peninsula has a long stretch of sand, a reef-protected lagoon laid out at the foot of an imposing mountain Le Morne Brabant, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2008. The mountain is a symbol of suffering, sacrifice, and freedom as it provided shelter for escaped slaves during the 18th and early 19th century. From the top of the 500-meter peak, you’ll get incredible views over the stunning reef and the rough shape of the ‘underwater waterfall’ a natural phenomenon caused by shifting sands which creates an optical illusion. You can charter a private seaplane to fly over it.
