Overview
The eastern region of Mauritius features sandy beaches like Belle Mare, Palmar, Poste Lafayette and Roches Noires. Some more open to the elements than others, with their crystal-clear waters they are all worth a visit.
One of the most popular destinations here is Ile aux Cerfs which is surrounded by a clear lagoon, turquoise waters, coconut trees and an 18-hole golf course.
Trou d’Eau Douce is a fishing village rich in history or you can also visit the market in Central Flacq especially on Wednesdays and Sundays.
Lion Mountain offers a panoramic view of the lagoon, take a dip in the pool of Eau Bleue waterfall or spend the day at La Vallée de Ferney, a wildlife reserve. Additionally, Bras D’Eau National Park is a great place for a walk through the giant Ebony trees in search of rare birds.
